Full course description

The Limb Loss Rehabilitation Specialist (LLRS) Certification is a comprehensive continuing education program designed to advance the clinical competency of rehabilitation and prosthetic care professionals working with limb loss populations. This certification addresses the full continuum of limb loss rehabilitation — from post-operative wound care and residual limb management through prosthetic training, gait rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and return to high-level function.

Content spans lower and upper limb amputation across etiologies including vascular disease, trauma, and oncology. Learners develop evidence-based skills in examination, intervention planning, pain management, fall prevention, and interprofessional collaboration within amputee care teams. Each module integrates current research with clinical application, preparing clinicians to deliver specialist-level care to a medically complex and underserved population.

The LLRS Certification is open to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, prosthetists, orthotists, occupational therapists, and other qualified rehabilitation professionals seeking to formalize and deepen their expertise in limb loss care.
